Ubuntu 10.04 is out soon and all those linux bashers should take a look. The only problem with Ubuntu going mainstream is a lack of support my games developers and those occasional business apps that are windows only.

Wine does a good job but unfortunately not on every occasion. I use Ubuntu all the time and dual boot XP when I absolutely have to.

I actually have Ubuntu 10.4 installed on another hard drive on this computer.  Unfortunately I can't get the drivers for my 2wire usb wireless adapter to load so I have to use Windows for almost everything.  I searched online found a tutorial for installing and loading the drivers for my card but they seem to be out of date and ndiswrapper isn't working right.  Other than that its a real nice OS and the best part to me was the fact that the install disk was also a live cd so you can try before you install.  I actually used that to get some locked files of someones crashed windows partition.

I know its an old thread but thought I'd comment anyway.

I never said windows was evil.

Because windows 98 was shit and some idiots never got over it.

No no windows 98 was bad but then they came out with that miscarriage of an OS WinME then they made WinXP's retarded half brother Vista.  I really like Win7 its a resource hog but who cares when it doesn't cost you a grand to build a good computer anymore.

Windows 98 had the defragger with squares that changed colour.

I miss that.

I miss it too though I don't miss how it would restart every 5mins b/c some background program did something Though if you want to use something that will remind you of it http://www.filehippo.com/download_oo_defrag/

You want Defraggler.  It removes the fraggles from your computer and has the win98 style blocks.

Oh, the plus packs.
I remember 98SE.
It was eh pretty cool guy.
Could have shell replaced with windows 95, and played games faster than ever.
